Extra Lean Beef Instead of Chicken?

My fiance and I used to try to have chicken as many times per week as possible because of the high protein and lean meat. I have started to get headaches after chicken meals (not sure why). Are there any downsides to have a few meals with extra lean ground beef per week? (95/5%) It costs a little more than regular but we like the taste and most of all, neither of us get a headache afterward.

What are your thoughts?

Lean beef is fine, another option is bison which is very lean, you will want to cook it with a bit of butter or something if pan seared. Venison is also good, as is calf liver (super rich in many essential nutrients as well).

If you are pounding chicken, it can get very....very boring, it go so boring to me I stopped eating chicken and most meat (toying with being vegetarian).

An even better source of protein is fish though. Tuna, Salmon, Halibut, Cod etc. High in protein and contrary to the question of lean, rich in good fats (which you need for general cellular function). If you like sushi, go this route. If you don't like sushi...try it, raw salmon is one of the most delectable things on earth in my opinion; pretty much fish sex butter in your mouth.

On second thought that last statement might weird you out about the whole thing.

LOL chris. Sashimi is pretty tasty. I try to toy around with different meats, because chicken does get pretty boring after awhile. Have you cooked with spices you normally don't use?? Seasonings might have something in them that you could be allergic to? Tough to say. But I find nothing wrong with lean beef a few times a week.

Yes Lean beef is fine. One can only stand so much chicken..LOL. I even eat lean pork. (This will get a lot of negative comments for sure). Fish is excellent. If you get bored with what you are eating, imo, it is easier to cheat and eat something you might regret later.

Bison and venison are both good options but a little more $$$$. I think lean beef in moderation is perfectly fine. Add in a variety of fish. We have fish or shrimp twice a week and it works out even for the non dieters in the house. Also, research for skinny chicken recipes. This helps to keep the chicken from becoming too boring. Good luck :drinker:

I've been using lean pork instead of beef, easier on my budget!

VARIETY for sure. Mix it up and try every possible kind of whole meat you can. I would go crazy eating the same things all the time and if you're getting headaches it sounds like your body is letting you know it's not loving what you're doing either.

I don't eat chicken. Chicken is nasty.....except the skin. I like dead bird skin. I think extra lean beef is fine.

Your diet should always contain a large variety of proteins. Try a little salmon. You might like it!

There are no downsides to eating lean meat in moderation. Same goes for just about anything.

I eat lean beef, turkey, lean pork, and even turkey sausages! We just discovered the Johnsonville makes Turkey sausage with cheddar! SO delicious and low in calories! They are high in sodium though so you have to plan accordingly. I know that many people probably won't agree but for me, I think it's important to eat what kind of meat I'd like, it's just all about portions. :) So, enjoy some lean beef now and then and relax on the chicken. :)
