I started this on Monday. My starting weight is 256. Today I weighed myself and I weigh 249. 7 pounds seems impossible to lose in just 2 days. I'm sure it's mostly water but it does make you feel good. Fitpal says I get 1880 calories and I've been eating just under that. But I've been walking 1.2 miles twice a day and playing golf.

I think it's just an example of how bad I was eating. I counted my calories on Saturday and I ate 4500!! I never realized just how much I was eating before using this. I love this thing so far and plan to stick with it. My goal is to get below 200. 7 years ago I weighed 165 and got up to 255 about 3 years ago and have stayed there. I've tried so many things in the past but this does seem sustainable.

The thing about this that I like is it tracks "calorie burning" activities like walking. When I was in my 20's I ran mini marathons, lifted weights 4 times per week, and did difficult fitness classes. In the past, I always thought I needed to work out at that level to "work out" but couldn't do to the shape I was in. Fitpal has helped me accept that I don't need to be a "world beater" just to get the ball rolling. I am going to walk my 1.2 mile router shortly. Best of luck everyone!

I started at 262 and lost 6-7 pounds the first week also. It was mostly water and probably food if that Saturday was a typical day for you, but it's a loss! Enjoy your new and improved lifestyle!

I will agree with your assessment that a lot of it is bloat-weight coming off. I bet if you were eating 4500 a day, that included a lot of processed foods which contained a lot of salt. You cut that salt, you cut excess water retention. I would just keep track. Personally for me rapid weight loss past the first 2 or 3 weeks of a weight loss effort leads to quick bounce back regain. If you find yourself no longer losing, try adding a could hundred calories back in a healthy way.

I lost 7 lbs my first two weeks using MFP and what you said in your post is basically what my eating habits were before I discovered MFP! My first day of tracking I had already used up all my calories by 11am!!! :noway: Stick with it, even though you may see the pounds coming off more slowly. In my experience so far, the weight comes off in different levels. Some weeks it is 1-2 pounds...some weeks no movement...and some weeks, there is a spike of 1-4 pounds :explode: But overall the number goes down. Just gotta keep focus! You can do it! :flowerforyou:

I started MFP on March 5. Best decision of my life!
