hcg is a drop or injection that you take along with a 500 cal diet...... its not a good way to go x

It's a hormone people take coupled with a silly starvation diet. It gives many successful episodes of weight loss, but I have watched many people balloon back from it.

Search the forums, there are several posts about it. And check back with your friends in six months or a year, I bet most of them gain it all back and then some.

It's a scam diet plan. Of course you lose weight when you eat 500 calories a day. But the weightloss is mostly from water and undernourishing your body will result in bad consequences.

Good luck with your weight loss, but the HCG diet has done nothing but HARM to people I know that used it.

The only reason people lose weight on that plan is you are only allowed to eat 500 calories a day. HCG has been scientifically proven to do NOTHING to help with weight loss or to make it safe to eat only 500 calories a day. It will not protect muscle, reset your metabolism or do anything else the snake oil salesmen that sell it claim. Dr. Simeons was a quack doctor. His "HCG protocol" has absolutely NO scientific backing and is not worth risking your health on.

Any doctor that pushes the HCG diet plan should be stripped of their license to practice medicine because they are being totally unethical and giving advice that goes against the conclusions of all reliable scientific research on the subject.

The HCG diet has been studied by many scientific organizations, and they all concluded that HCG, even the "real" injectable version, is no more effective than a placebo, and eating only 500 calories a day for weeks, as recommended by that plan, can cause more health problems than it solves.

Please read the articles on these websites before you try HCG. I know some people that put their faith in the HCG diet, and became very ill from malnutrition as a result. Then they regained more weight than they lost. Now they wish they never heard of HCG.

The Government is now in the process of getting all that fraudulent stuff off the market, and it's about time!

My step mother is on HCG and has lost about 100 lbs. So obviously it works, but I dont know enough about it to make an opinion on it or know if its harmful to the body. I wouldnt use it, because I dont have a lot to lose. But if you are someone who is extremely overweight, then I see it obviously working.

HCG = human chorionic gonadotrophin. It's a hormone that is released in the early stages of pregnancy to maintain implantation of the embryo. HCG communicates with the pituitary to say "Hey! We've got a baby in the makin'. DON'T continue with the normal estrogen/progesterone menstruation cycle or we'll lose it."

In men, HCG regulates spermatogenesis (I think. I might be misremembering my endocrinology)... and it's sometimes used by steroid users to 'reset' their system and counteract some of the negative effects of steroid use. I could have my facts slightly confused on this part. I'm sure someone will set me straight if I do.

This hormone is what crazy people are injecting/eating.

Honestly, I don't think they are injecting/eating the hormone in high enough concentrations to do much damage... but still, it's pretty crazy in my opinion to mess with hormones unless you're an MD and/or an endocrinologist.

Also... HCG has no effect on appetite/weight loss despite what some people say. People THINK it helps... but... hey, that's called the placebo effect. Some people think a rabbit foot brings good luck... or that not changing your underwear helps you win the baseball game.

There is no miricle cure for weight lose, it may work for some, but the truth is 99.9% of those who use it... gain all the weight back. I have 2 friends who used it for a short time last year, lost the weight and put it back on. Plus, I don't think its a healthy way to lose weight, but that is just my thoughts ;)

    Good luck!
