I've always been told by personal trainers (my boyfriend and uncle both are PT's) that you should alternate weight lifting (or strength training) So what I've always done was:
Cardio: everyday and I'd switch it up. One day I would swim, one day run.
Strength Training: Upper body one day and then the next day lower body. You need at least one rest day in between strength training so your muscles have time to recover.
I say "would" run because I haven't been doing to the gym regularly lately. But when I was working out like this (and I would work out about 5-6 days a week with a day or two for rest) I was seeing amazing results.0
