For those of you that say you don't "count" sugar from fruit, what do you mean? Do you not count those calories toward your intake? I think, unless your diabetic, there is just no need to isolate sugars to measure. Just set your macros up right and eat to those and your total daily goal. This whole concept of sugar from fruit somehow being different is just nonsensical. I really like fruit and eat some every day. Fiber, anti-oxidants, fresh flavor, what's not to like! So it has a little sugar. What the big deal?

    ^^This.

Also, I like to stand with one hand on my hip and my shoulders pushed back - which in turn pushes my chest out - when I eat fruit. So that's my stance.

Totally agree on Rock's blog. Thought your stance was hysterical!! That should be your new Avatar pic with you sensuously eating a big strawberry!!

I don't know - I think a banana would be more appropriate... for several reasons.

What makes eating fruit better than eating a candy bar or drinking fruit juice is fiber.
Because the fiber slows the rate at which you extract the sugar keeping your blood sugar from spiking high and then dropping again making you hungry again.

Since I follow South Beach guidelines I limit fruit to 1-3 low sugar fruits/day. It also helps to slow digestion if you eat protein with your fruit.

I have seen numerous posts about sugars and a fair amount of people contend the levels that MFP sets (which are basic RDA levels) is only for "processed" sugars so things like "fruit" sugars don't count...when in fact they do...

for some people to much sugar in thier system - even if it is all from fruit and veggies can really affect how they feel and if they are looking for weight loss can stall their weight loss...yes fruit is good for you but eating 80 grams of "fruit" sugar a day probably isn't all that great for everyone...depending of course on what thier goals are...
  • The Mayo Clinic only worries about added sugars for a basic healthy diet. I trust them.

yes, this. There is no RDA for sugar,, and the upper limit of 40g or 25-37g (AHA) comes from recommendations about added sugar. Of course sugar from fruits and vegetables counts as calories, but unless you are trying for keto or are diabetic (in which case you follow your exchanges), I wouldn't worry about it as long as you are eating a balanced diet. I eat 40/30/30 most days, and I frequently go over my sugar, because I eat apples, berries and carrots.
