I am 209 at the moment, and i am using MFP to watch my cal intake. I also started jump roping for 20 min, then punching bag for 15. I heard this is great for cardio. My goal is to get down to 180lbs, and split my daily workout between cardio and streagth. Has anyone had any luck with the bowflex system? Your feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have an XTL model bowflex. It wasn't really used until recently. There is a workout and diet plan - the six week challenge - in the back of the manual. I weighed 210.5 and was pretty fed up with being so overweight. I decided that I could do six weeks of anything. The doctor who wrote the plan has worked with 10,000 people over the years and the average fat loss over the six weeks is 28 lbs. I am following it religously and am in the third week. The weight is coming off - 11.5 pounds in the first two weeks. Under this plan you drink A LOT of water and only work out three times a week for 30 minutes each. Guys like me also have to live with limited calories - it starts out at 1,500 per day.

The bowflex exercises are easy to set up and get in within the 30 minutes. Kinda strange, but the doctor really does not encourage any other exercise during the six weeks. As a matter of fact, he tells you avoid it as it interupts the weight loss! (weird, but it's working!). Good luck.
  • I had been looking at them for the past year or so, and i am really thinking about dropping money on one. Those results are great, The 30 min workout is perfect for me because of schedule. Think you sold me on it. Thanks for the input.
