P90x troubles..

Question for people who have tried P90X when really, REALLY out of shape (my arms mainly).... How the hell did you get through the first day?? lol. I tried it for two days and then said.."**** that, too hard" Am I being a baby? (BE Honest, not rude though)
I can get through the leg parts great and ab parts mostly..
I have always had severely weak arms, holding 5lbs for more than a minute kills me.
I guess what I'm asking is how did you find motivation to keep at it?

Hey there!
I am a BB coach and a guy but your message stuck out to me so I thought I'd try to answer your question as best I can.
How did you do on the fit test before you actually started? (page 25 of the P90X fitness guide that came with the program)
Biceps curl (women should be able to do 10 with an 8 lb weight)
If you have trouble doing the fit test and are having issues, you might need to reconsider doing P90X right off the bat. Another program like Power 90 or Slim In 6 might be a better fit for you right now. Once you have completed one of those programs, come back and do the fit test for P90X again and you should be able to do much better and be able to crush P90X .
That being said, you might just need to modify a bit to build up the proper strength to get though the program if you are determined to stay with P90X.. Use a chair to help do the pull ups, do knee push ups, Use a 5-8 lb weight and go for as many reps as you can. Don't feel you have to keep up with the people on the video. They have been though the complete program and are in VERY good shape. As Tony says "Do your Best and Forget the Rest". Modify, modify, modify.. Use the PAUSE button on the remote, gather yourself and finish the exercise.
Two days is not much of a try. I'd love to see you dig down for a week and see if you can do it, modifying what you need to, less weight, more reps, etc.. When you come around to the second week, you will be amazed at how much more you can do. You might consider using the B-Line bands for a while too. They will give you a good workout and help build strength over time. You CAN do it!
Use BB's support and website. There are TONS of wonderful people who can help motivate and inspire you online. If I can help you in any way please let me know. I would love to hear from you!!!

Yeah, you're being a baby!
Get back on the train!
Just pause it. If you hit muscle failure, next time adjust so that you're not reaching muscle failure. If you absolutely positively can't finish it.. don't finish it. You're still going to be much better off than if you hadn't put the DVD in at all. Just be ready to start anew the next day.
You'll get to love it, Tony Horton is QUITE enjoyable.0 -
If by "it kills me" you mean your arms just get shaky/fatigued, then you could try to push through it unless you feel pain. Or, just start with soup cans or 3lb weights for the first week, then go with the 5lbs. If you're completely new to weight training, you're not a baby for choosing very light weights for your first few workouts, better to do it that way than to get discouraged half way through and give up.
For me the motivation comes with progressing; being able to do 40 mins of the workout, then 50 minutes, then 60 and so on, or being able to lift heavier weights.
Also I started P90X after not working out with weights for like 7 years, big mistake, I could barely walk up/down stairs or put on pants, the muscle soreness was so intense, so I say work up to it. Or it just might not be for you, I gave up on the whole thing after a few weeks because I found working out in my living room every day wasn't as motivating as physically going to another place to workout, so I joined a gym instead. Do what you enjoy most and the motivation will come easier.0
