How do I determing which setting to use sedentary, lightly active, active or very active. I work 4 12 hour shifts - I am seated at my desk and I am off for four days. I do work out on my hour lunch and get out with the dogs for a minimum hour hike.

On days off I hike minimum 1.5 hours, run every other day and have started weight training - I am seeing differences in my body but not differences in the scale. I quit worrying about what the scale says - but obviously would still like to see it go down.

Please give me some advice what you think the setting should be

Thanks

JB

I always work on the below:
sedentary - sitting down at computer
    lightly active - walking dog
active - running around with kids at park/jogging (able to converse still/slight sweat)
very active (breathing hard/sweat pouring down face)

From what I've always understood you do not add your exercise into this equation. It's even on the sticky thread at the top titled for newbies. It's determined on a daily basis minus any exercise. I personally wouldn't put active bc you stated you sit most of the time at work.
