HIT YOUR CALORIES!

People need to understand that not eating enough calories in the day is going to make you gain weight as well! The number that it calculates for you is the number you want to try and hit. When you dont get enough calories your body goes into starvation mode and stores the fat.

    I have 360 calories left for today, and I am not hungry. They are basically my exercise calories, are you saying I should eat them? I am confused about this since I am not hungry.....

    I have a serious problem doing this! I'm horrible about not eating breakfast and sometimes if work is crazy Ill skip lunch too! It is so hard for me to get my calories in! And I've had these eating habits for years!

    Your body doesn't go into "starvation mode" in one day. If you're under a little one day it isn't going to do anything. Yea if you are consistently under 500+ calories maybe, but a 100-200 a day isn't going to make much of a difference. For most people that is the difference of maybe not weighing/measuring their food or not calculating exercise calories right. I'd be willing to bet that most of us underestimate how much we eat, even though we count our calories.

    Personally, I may be over one day and under the next. As long as I'm right around the number for the week is all I care about. It has been working for me.

    Taking a really long time to eat works for me. That is if time allows. Take small bites and chew really thoroughly.

    As for reaching calories, I get to that point at night when I have enough left for a small meal and am not hungry at all...
  • This confuses me a bit too most of the time they are my exorcise calories too and sometimes I'm not hungry. Before I would boredom eat all the time at work now that I have stopped I feel better but I don't fully reach that number. When I boredom ate and reached that number I didn't feel good at all.

    Completely false statement! Your body actually takes DAYS of not eating enough food to go into starvation mode, and the larger you are the longer it takes.

    The tip I heard for making you feel full sooner is by eating a bite of something and setting down your eating utensil until you've finished chewing that first bite. If you hold the utensil, it encourages you to eat faster.

    While I do try to do this, most days I am 100-200 calories below, and occasionally 300 below. I don't sweat this, as there could be variability in my portion size and counting, as accurate as I do try be with measuring.

    Second, there is usually 1-2 days a week where I end up a bit over.

    As long as the inches are coming off, I'm feeling good, and my weight is dropping, I figure it's all good.

    When you exercise daily your body grows used to it and eventually you can do more and more and more.
    When you eat too much you can eventually eat more and more and more.
    When you eat too little you can eventually eat less and less and less.
    All of these things have a cut off point but you can be eating too little and not be hungry because your body is used to it after eating less and less over the course of weeks, months or years.

    When I eat healthy and don't have "sugary crap" then I feel better more energy and am less hungry because your boby is getting what it needs.

    I would say if you notice you energy drop ya better take note before your badself starts chewing on your own muscle tissue:)

    I was thinking the same exact thing. I go by calories in - calories out and it works for me. If I am not hungry (rare!) I am not going to eat 400 extra calories b/c it says I can.,

    I like keeping a can of smoked almonds around. good, good for you, and quick calorie add to keep your numbers close

    Wow I am eating healthy, have lost some weight, my body has me eating 3200 calories nowadays because it wants the fuel to sustain my workouts and daily activity... If you eat less over time your body will eventually get use to this and will adapt and cause you to not feel hungry but this will eventually stall your weight loss......

    I love food too much and am pretty selfish with my calories lol. I almost always eat them all.

    I need some clarification as well. so does that mean if for example my calorie goal is 2000 cal a day, i eat 2000 cal a day.. so if i exercise 700 cal.. that brings me down to 1300.. so am i supposed to eat another 700 calories to get back up to 2000? please help.. i have always been confused on this

    I will force down a box of cookies since I'm 880 calories under.

    Actually no...snack on some Frosted Flakes, and probably just accept that I was under today.
  • Counting calories leads to confusion. So far I've just eaten healthy and eat smaller meals 5 times a day, even if I'm not hungry. I track what I eat and workout 5 times a week and this works well for me. Counting calories is just a big waste of time.
