Any Pointers/ Supporters What so ever would be appreciated.

Hello Everyone!

I am so not new to the "trying to exercise" and "get into shape" thing, but I am new to this program. I have tried
for years to lose weight by just eating whatever I want, then going to the gym and trying to work it off. I am ashamed
to say that it took me 10 years to figure out that this process does not work.

I have been with MFP for just about two weeks now, and I am down 4 pounds. A great start, but a long, long, way to
go. A little background, I am a 41 year old father of 4 active boys. I have been as heavy as 307 pounds...I am
currently 297, with a goal of reaching 215 pounds. I want desperately to be able to run, and play with my sons while they still look up to me as a father. (You know, once they hit their teens, Dads just become obnoxious geeks to their kids.)

Anyway, I really do hope that I can make this work, not only for me but my family as well. I too have motivation problems
from time to time. If anyone has ANY Pointers or would like to mentor a middle-aged father of 4, to help keep him motivated,
I would greatly appreciate it. I would also be glad to share any knowledge or ideas that I have as well.

Who can't use all the Friends and Supporters possible?

Thanks!

It really is just a balance diet, reducing unsaturated fat and avoiding refined sugar. Keep it up!

First off, congrats on the 4 lbs down since joining!

    1) never deprive yourself
    2) but do put thought into your food choices beforehand
    3) keep your body guessing with varying your calories and exercise
    4) track every bite
