Weekend Love-Ins.

Hello all!

Right, I wonder if I could pick your brains. First off, a little bit of context.

I tend to eat reasonably sensible during the week, and exercise 6 nights a week (Saturdays off). Me and my partner are long-distance, and see each other every two weeks (Friday night - Monday afternoon). Therefore, I miss three classes; do nothing more strenuous than walk the dog and let's just say that life for a few days is punctuated by damn good eats.

Yeah, I might look at my ticker and think that I've not done so badly this far; why should I worry now? A few things:

- our first weekend together since I started logging is coming up (here comes Reality to suckerpunch me like a mofo)

- Over the past few months I've been at a plateau, and in the 10 days since I've logged the needle has gone left for the first time in yonks

- Since analysing my food intake, I realise that actually my vigorous exercise habit would not allow me to emerge from a Luuuurrrvvee Weekend unscathed

Now. I've always harped on about the virtue of relaxing the diet, of tomorrow being a new day and all that. All well and good, but I can't take my eye off that plateau. In addition, I've put on 2lb over the past two days (I have stepped up the kettlebells, though, and thrown in some heavier weights so I suspect my body's freaking out a little - it certainly smarts) and whilst I'm sure that's a natural fluctuation, I don't want to be stepping on the scales on my weigh-in day (Tuesday) and feeling disappointed.

I know that the answer is simple - eat less at the weekend, duuuuh - but that's the same as people who harp on with "eat less, move more". Yes, Captain Obvious, thank you.

Any calorie tips, folks? I've filled out today's diary in advance and plan to stick to it, which leaves me with circa a 700 calorie deficit. I have been reliably informed that tomorrow's tea is hunkin' great bacon steaks with my Boyfriend's Amazing Mash and greens, so will streamline tomorrow's lunch.

ETA: I know that 'eat less, stoopid' would be a perfectly acceptable answer to a stupid question. But other insights are always welcome, just pitching this one!

Sorry if this is a little garbled, life does change a bit when you become a logger!

xx

I know this input won't help you with weigh in Tuesday, but I feel like throwing it out there anyway. A long weekend love-in can't be so bad especially if it is only every two weeks. Relax and let yourself enjoy your relationship while still being mindful about your eating. If I obsess over food in a time that I'm supposed to just enjoy, it depresses and discourages me from the larger goal which is a healthier life in balance that I can maintain and enjoy at the same time. An off-weekend isn't going to help your plateau, but it will soothe your soul and keep you on track when your love isn't in your arms reach.

Thank you for such a lovely response, much appreciated!

I've logged today in advance and, even not counting the potential for a couple of beers and a cheeky Revel this evening, I'm over my calorie goal. I guess it's a case of not being outrageous this weekend (which I have the real capacity to me) and sucking it up next week. Thanks again; normally I wouldn't worry about this kind of thing but mix the cold reality of logging and a plateau and it gets me thinking!
  • once a fortnight is not going to hurt as long as you get back on track , straight away, and as for the exercise....well we all know that a bit of lurvving is like going on a 4 mile jog...or so i am told hehe.

Just enjoy your time together and focus on each other

    Have fun
