I put a certain H beginning tomato ketchup on everything I eat!!! so I scanned the barcode & found it was a lot of calories every tablespoon, and I usually have at least 5 or 6 tablespoons with every meal for years!!! ( I never measured it either how much I was using! ) so I am shocked!!! will have to cut down but I love ketchup... :-(

could be worse, you could like mayonnaise on everything! You can still have some, but if you change your eating habits to make your food naturally flavourful, you won't need it much anymore!
I think there is a low sugar heinz ketchup out there in some shops, I have yet to find it here though. I mix ketchup with horseradish and lemon juice for the most amazing cocktail sauce ever- maybe cutting ketchup with lemon juice will help to stretch the calories further.0 -
It is also full of sugar, just for ur info:ohwell:0

Argh never feels right to say ketchup....we call it tomato sauce
It is scary to see how many calories things have in them.0 -
I found this as well. I mean I weighed how much I was using and checked the calories and was rather horrified. I haven't found it too difficult to cut down though, now that I weigh how much I am adding. I think either 15g or 20g is the portion on the back. You could try setting yourself that kind of limit. I found that I was perhaps adding more than I needed, esp. if you have a 'squeezy' bottle (I mean it comes out in a small shoot) or you add it to your plate in zig-zags rather than a single blop. I think you should try that with your next meal, just give yourself say half of what you usually have and try to stick with it. I am using 10g right now and I find it OK. Probably other stuff you can add as well. e.g. instead of ketchup, to vegetables I might now add a pinch of salt (I've never done that before... for some reason). Good luck.0

I love ketchup too so what I've done is just cut way back on it. I am not eating as much of the things I usually put it on so that helps to. I don't count the calories for it because I don't eat my exercise calories back so that usually covers any extras I use0

Seriously? Ketchup is 20 calories per tablespoon. What is there to complain about? Even at 5-6 you're looking at what? 100 cals? Not worth worrying about. Look to cut calories elsewhere if you're that tight on your limits.0

it is a big deal to me cos I didn't realise & I use a lot of ketchup so " only 100 calories " is a lot to me, considering its an extra 100 calories on my food diary!0 -
