Hi Everyone,
I've been trying to hard to follow the MFP plan that is set up for me but I'm starving all the time and some days end up exceeding my calorie limits by 100-200 calories because I eat another snack ( healthy of course) to get rid of the hunger. I just feel like if I'm actually hungry and not just bored and wanting to eat, then i should eat. Does anyone else experience this? Is my calorie goal too low? Any suggestions?

How much fiber and Protein are you eating? Are you drinking plenty of water? If your not already doing it, drink a glass of water before each time youe eat, it can help you feel full. If you eat foods with more protein and fiber you usually will feel fuller for longer periods of time. If I eat meals that have more carbs I feel hungry rather quickly, but if I balance it out with protein and fiber I don't get that nagging "I'm so freaking hungry feeling" That is the worst!0

I thought I was getting enough fibre, but perhaps I haven't balanced it enough. Ill try and pay closer attention and Ill try the water trick. Thanks for the advice0

I found that for me carbs made me very hungry, so I switched to more protein and less carbs which has helped. Also, I always carry a bag of something very low cal to snack on if I do get too hungry (usually fresh vegies). Drinking even more water than mfp recommends helps me too. Let us know if you find anything else that works!0

Yep this is true for me too except I would also say to make sure you have enough healthy fats too. Fat, protien, and fiber are going to make you feel full and satisfied where as sugar (alot of fat free procuts use more sugar to compensate for lack of fat) spikes your blood sugar then drops it and is easily digested so you get hungrier quicker.0 -
I don't have much to lose, so when I set up my profile and said I was sedentary, I could feel the difference. In truth, my job is highly variable. I have a bodybugg now and I can easily burn an extra 500 cals at work... So on those days I get hungry... My body wants more. So that could be it.
As someone else said, feeling full is more about what you eat than how much. Good luck!0 -
I agree, more fiber helps!0

I know exactly what you mean. I'm also always hungry but I often tried to drink water or often diet coke which has a bit of flavour and which makes me feel less hungry.0

Thanks everyone for the great advice. I also have mine set to sedentary because well while I'm at work I'm at a desk all day, all my exercise comes in after work I park my car 3 blocks from home and walk back and forth every time I need to drive somewhere and then of course there's all my work outs. Previously I was a total and complete couch potatoe and the most exercise I got was walking from the parking level in my building to my apartment on the second floor. So lots of big changes for me the last 2 months. I quit smoking, overhauled my diet and began exercising several times a week0

I know that when I first started I was hungry all the time and I was trying to figure out how in the world I was going to subsist on 1400 calories. It took about a month for my body to adjust and I just worked out a lot to be able to eat more. It takes a little while to adjust but you'll get there!0
