idiotic diets!

So my facebook friend that I don't really know started this 400 cals a day diet where she drinks shakes with nutrition in it. She said her goal was lo lose 8kgs in a week. A weeek! She did this before and gained all the weight back and has to do it again.

I commented a little discrete that thats a short term solution and she should try to exercise instead and two more people joined in and agreed with me. Why are people always looking for shortcuts? And should I not have commented?

Who doesn't love a shortcut? Takes awhile to learn it may not be the best option!

Yeah but it bothers me that she cant read a little bit on nutrition and skip the candy instead of starving herself. Thats messed up!

I have a co-worker who's CHIROPRACTOR gave her a 500 cal/day diet to use. She stuck to it, and did absolutely lose weight. Starvation will make you lose weight. She looks emaciated and completely unhealthy, and has told me numerous times that she doesn't have any energy, so as soon as she gets home from work, she goes to bed for the night.

I am losing weight much more slowly than she is, but I'm lifting heavier weights all the time, started boxing, and have more energy than I ever have before.

I used to go for quick fixes, but I'm trying to do it right this time. Crazy people can keep their crazy diets.

i had a friend that had gastric bypass--didnt work because instead of drinking water she drank flat coke, instead of eating healthy meals she just took smaller bites of chili dogs and cake and candy. she has now had two other surgeries to help her lose weight and she is still fat. if we dont change our eating habits and exercise there arent any shortcuts that will work long term. no shortcuts here and that is why i am still struggling--however i know that in the end i most likely will not gain my weight back.

Live and learn. I would venture to say that almost everyone that is overweight has tried some fad diet or another at some time. Many of us have tried many. I'll even go out on a limb that the majority of the people on MFP will try a fad diet again in the future.

Gotta run. I'm late for my celery fungus puree colonic.

"lose 8 pounds a week with the cabbage soup diet" saw this on a magazine cover in the grocery store. I made the soup and it tasted good. It's a nice recipe to add to a HEALTHY diet
