Counting the spike

When I started i jumped up 3lbs. I checked today and have lost it this week. Yay!! But it wasn't figured in. Do I still count it on my weight loss counter? Also is it normal to spike upwards in weight when you first start? Thanks.....

I only note when I lose weight. If I go up, I don't note it, because I have been at my calorie allowance, and I know it is water retention, usually from eating salty food and not drinking enough water. So my counter only shows what I lost, not the ups and downs. But you can do whatever is useful for you. It is a tool to help you. Doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.

I log the losses and the gains...that way I can see where I went wrong on in my food/exercise area for those days.

I log both, this way I check my food and exercise logs to see if it is something I'm doing/not doing so I can correct it. If the reason isn't there I figure water/bloat.

It's really a personal choice. I started tracking daily this month just so that I can identify trends and not freak out so much of the daily fluctuations. If I only weigh once a week and it just happens to be a "water gain" day due to muscle soreness, sodium, TOM, etc... then it is deceptive and sometimes disheartening.

Now that I see the overall trend, in spite of bouncing, is downward. I'm good.

Weigh yourself once a week and record those numbers. ex. Friday morning right after you go potty in your skivvies.
