Do HRMs over-estimate calories burned?

I just bought a Polar F7 HRM- have been so excited to use it! When I was on the elliptical machine today I noticed that the machine HRM showed that I burned 250 calories while my HRM showed that I burned 335. Both took into consideration my weight and age so I wasn't sure which caloric to take? Has anyone had this experience? Any thoughts?
