Yeah, but the sugar in fruit is healthy and much easier on your blood sugar than the sugar in junk foods. Not really something to worry about in the long run unless you're eating the fruit way into excess.

I generally try to get in fruit and vegetables with each meal. I typically have some fruit with breakfast in the morning, veggies with lunch and dinner, and I snack on fruit quite a bit throughout the day too, because it quells my sugar cravings. I try to make sure two of my three meals a day are vegetarian, because I've found that it helps me incorporate more vegetables into my diet. Even when I do eat meat, I try not to make it the primary part of the meal. A pretty typical dinner for me is a small piece of chicken, and one or two types of vegetables and maybe a starch like brown rice, quinoa, or potatoes.

I consider fresh fruits calories well-spent, and I don't worry about the sugars in them because it's not concentrated sugar, it takes time to digest, most fruits contain fiber so you don't get the sudden glycemic load like you do with processed/concentrated sugars, and fruit sugars usually come with nutrients.

I do count them as part of calories, but as long as they are the bulk of my sugars I don't worry if my sugars go over.

But there has already been at least one "fruit - is it good for you" thread that got fairly heated, so - your call.

I aim for at least 3 servings of veggies and 1 or 2 fruit daily. My fruits tend to be mostly apples and berries. I love grapes and pineapple, but they have a lot of sugar so I watch how much I eat.

I usually try to eat my fruits in the morning, so my body has all day to break it down, and vegetables throughout the day. 1/2 cup of vegetables = 1 serving, Leafy vegetables (salad) 1 cup = 1 serving, 1 fruit = 1 serving. 19-50 yr old should be eating 7-10 servings a day.

i eat as much as possible. i definitely try to get the 5 recommended, but it definitely isnt as hard as people make it out to sound. have a smoothie, throw some lettuce and tomato on that sandwich, instead of mac n cheese have a baked potato, if you cant absolutely get it in, some oj works for me. i dont usually do the other juices unless putting it in a smoothie. theres so many ways. good luck, but last night i took a health class and greens are said to be the lowest calorie and healthiest for you, although im not a big fan.

Guidelines in the US (don't remember from which govt entity, lol) is 2-3 a day of fruit and 3-5 a day of vegetables. Both have tons of important nutrients that you can't just replace with a vitamin pill and have fiber which is good for heart and digestive system. Yes, they have calories, but much less than most other food groups for the same amount of food. You can eat 2 or 3 cups of broccoli, cauliflower, celery, etc and still have fewer calories than a cup of oats or a slice of bread or a cup of hamburger. As far as sugars from fruits, I wouldn't worry about it unless you have strong specific reason to avoid sugar (like diabetes). They are part of your balanced diet. It is much better than getting the sugars from sweets or refined sugar.

I go more for vegetables than fruit as they are generally less calorific than fruit, and good for fibre and other nutrirents - fortunately this suits my palate better to :)

If you are not diabetic then going over in your sugar is not the end of the world. Some fruits are lower than others. Bananas and grapes are two of the highest for sugars. Berries and melons are some of the lowest. If you are worried about sugar stick to the lower ones. A quick Google search will give you a comprehensive list of the sugar content of GI of fruit.
