Strategy for tracking on vacation?

Can anyone share their experience with tracking while on vacation? I'll be visiting my inlaws for a week in Florida and am not ready to fall off the wagon so plan to track while I'm there. My in laws are fairly health conscious and we will do most of our eating at home with probably only a few nights eating out so it shouldn't be horrible, but there is always trips for ice cream, drinks, who knows what else. I'm going to try and go running at least a few times while I'm down there (though I haven't run in the heat before so I hope it's not too bad!)

I'm wondering though, should I set my calories to maintenance while I'm gone, to give myself more of a buffer? While I'd love to lose while on vaca I'd be happy with just not gaining...or is it best to leave your goal where it is and just try to keep with it?

Thanks for the advice!

I would leave your goal as-is, but acknowledge to yourself you'll probably go over some days. Try to get in some exercise in the morning or evening, when it's not as hot, and maybe go for the kids size ice cream when you go out.

    Enjoy your vacation!

yeah that sounds good. keep them at what they are now and try to get some work outs in. just log everything even if you go over. that way you won't go super duper over. you work hard all of the time. enjoy your vacation.

make healthy desisions while gone and do something active. weigh yourself when you get back. Take a break from the computer. Just have deal breakers for yourself like I will drink 8 glasses of water everyday, I will exercise everyday, and eat fruits and veggies everyday. I am taking vacation in June, have to use a passport so ther will be no logging in for me. But I plan on swimming everyday and making good choices. have fun. good luck

I need to log every day because I love seeing that "you've logged in for 100 datys!" message, lol! I'd hate to have to start from scratch on that. Though I guess I *could* just log into MFP but not actually log food....

I think what I'm going to do (after playing around with my goal settins) is set it to "lose 1lb per week" for the week. That gives me 400 more calories a day (wow!) to play with so I can have a little more freedom and still feel happy about staying on track.

    Thanks for the advice!!
