Hello,
My name is Mike and I am a 25 year old previously very over weight, now kinda overweight person who decided to change his life. On Feb 1st 2012 I went to the doctor to find out I was quite overweight. I always knew I was overweight, I just didn't know the level. At 5'6 I weighed 245 Lbs. The doctor told me I was in danger with my high blood pressure and cholesterol.
I was eating microwaved food and sleeves of cookies for every meal, as a PC gamer and working a desk job I found very little reason to move around enough to wear it off, and I would often just eat.
I have never drank, or smoked but eating had my number.
I signed up for a gym that day, and changed my eating habits completely.
I was probably eating 3000 Calories a day, with 7000 Sodium. I changed to eating 1500 calories, 1500 sodium a day. I understand this is too low of a switch, but I wasn't aware of this when i started. I just got determined. I went to the gym 5 to 6 times a week for an hour each time of cardio. I've worked very hard, and I now weigh 189 Lbs in just 3 months. Once again, I understand this is too fast to lose weight, but I did not do anything I considered unhealthy. 90% of the food I'm eating has good nutritional value and I'm just working hard at the gym, and doing pushups whenever I can. The weight loss has now slowed to about 2-3 LBS per week, so more in a healthy range.
I'm happy to be more active and eating healthier. I don't miss the very bad eating a lot, because I try to make sure I have foods I love every day, including ice cream and other treats. Just in moderation. The only foods I go big on are things like home made pasta with a touch of butter and cheese.
I was just searching around while at work about some muscle soreness and I stumbled upon this site and figured I would join up.

Thank you kindly, that is why I came here, to make some friends that will understand what I'm going through or how hard I'm working. At the end of the day it is for me, but all my friends and family just don't seem honest to me. Not because they are liars in any way, but they all love me prior to losing the weight, so I take their compliments with a grain of salt. (the only thing I take with a grain of salt anymore) Bad jokes aside, thank you for welcoming me0

Congratulations! Even though you've lost a considerable amount of weight in a short period of time, the switch from an unhealthy diet to a healthy one seems to be working very well for you.
Because you are making good healthy choices now, you are significantly improving your odds of living a long life and avoiding a host of terrible diseases and afflictions down the road. I'm proud of you! Feel me to add me as a friend (though I'm old enough to be your mother). I wish all the 20 somethings in my life were as wise as you.0 -
I'm not very wise, just as dumb as the rest of them. I fully understand that everyone knows nothing until at least 30. I just heard the warning calls and went to action. As much as it's for my health, it's also so I can continue to eat chicken fingers into old age. I figured if I go nuts on food now, sure I'll have a great 5 years of eating. but then i'll be eating salads only for the next however long I have left on my life. If I balance it now, lose a good amount and get healthy I can eat a healthy diet that includes fun foods as I go0
