Later Workouts...less calories burned

I find that the later I work out, the less calories I burn doing the same workout. If I workout before work I can burn from 950 to 1100 calories. But if I workout at lunch I only burn from 800 to 950 and after work 700 to 950. Does anyone else find that? Why do you think that happens?

    This is interesting...bump for later...

I know that if I run in the evenings after work, I feel like I work harder, but accomplish less than when I run at noon.

Maybe later in the day you have less energy, so you put less intensity into your workouts?

This is what I was going to say. I know I have the most energy and get the best workout before lunch. I read somewhere that mental fatigue can reduce your endurance. At the end of a work day you are probably tired, even if your work isn't physical.

I agree...Im usually going to the gym in the morning and I feel amazing and feel like I do a lot more. However, last night when I went...I felt like I wasnt getting much out of it. I was tired...and couldnt really push myself like I usually can. Im guessing because I went thru my whole day already and was pretty much ready for bed.

I definitely would agree with that and also, your metabolism is faster in the morning and slowing down later, and with that you propably don't get your heart beating as fast thus burn less calories

This happens to me too. I also agree that I am so lazy and tired in the evenings that that may have affected my effort too. But I already prefer exercising first thing in the morning so I don't really care. More motivation for me to get it done in the morning.
