Master Cleanse---help or hype?

I was reading an article last night from a women's magazine that heralded, "Lose 14 Pounds in 4 Days!" The article touted the "Master Cleanse" program which consists of drinking a lemondade/maple syrup/cayenne pepper combo for four days and nothing else (besides herbal tea to quiet your stomach).

Knowing that a person shouldn't eat less than 1200 calories a day to avoid putting their body into starvation mode, I'm thinking that I'd have to drink so much of this concocotion that I'd probably wreck my electrolyte balance. But I am curious if anyone has tried this, and what their results were.

Thanks for your input!

I don't know about 14 pounds in 4 days... but i have done this for 10 days and lost about 15 pounds. I also drank senna tea and did the salt water flush while on it. The results, however, are short lived. As soon as you start eating you gain it back. I also had major urges to binge afterwards and it messed up all the weight loss I had achieved through healthy eating and exercise beforehand.

Would I do it again? Probably not...

Also....(This cleanse seems to be a subject of heated debate on these forums so there are plenty of other threads on this......some of the comments, not so nice, lol)

    Just a heads up...

hype. my deal with this is "duh! if you eat nothing of COURSE you will lose weight" when you lose weight quickly, it WILL find you again. slow and steady :flowerforyou:
