Ladies... can I get a witness? Have mercy. I feel like my hormones are making me increasingly more and more unstable each month. Irrational thoughts, mood swings, appetite swings, crying jags.. it's like my moods change every 5 minutes when my monthy cycle draws near.. I mean, I can't even hardly stand to be around myself! I REFUSE to get on any type of birth control, so I'm just curious, has anyone tried any homeopathic paths and had success? Most importantly, I'd just like to know that I"m not alone -I'm normally the happiest, upbeat woman in the world, but I feel like I turn into an evil ***** a week and a half before my time of the month... help!!!

I'm 36 years old and only recently started experiencing the joy that is pms. I want to eat a chocolate brick while crying and punching puppies. Feel like an emotional psycho for a week each month. My poor husband. I have no ideas on meds but will check back on this thread because i am open to any suggestions.

You are not alone. I get very moody also. Not to the extreme of yours, but enough that I cannot stand to be around myself. I always end up apologizing profusely to everyone when it is over. I take Evening Primrose tablets. They are natural. They seem to help. I take them two to three times a day. They also help with hot flashes as well if you have that problem. I do :(

I honestly wish I could start a support group for PMDD, a more extreme form of PMS> - I'm confident that's what I have!!!

    Yes, I have.

I too refused to go on BC for a normal imbalance. I had too much estrogen. They wanted to put me on a progesterone only pill. Here are some symptoms of too much estrogen:

    Decreased sex drive
    Heavy bleeding during menses
Shortened cycles (mine were coming every 19 days)
    Depression and anxiety
Weight gain especially around hips butt and thighs only
    Fatigue
    Foggy thinking/memory issues
    Hairloss
    Headaches
    Mood swings
    Insomnia coupled with exhaustion
    Irritability
    Sluggish metabolism
    Thyroid issues

I went to better health naturallys website and have been using the Progonol cream for a while. It worked out really well. The first month, my period came in 24 days, not 19. The next month, 28 days, and 28 days ever since. My pms is pretty much gone, the only issues I have left are related to m y enlarged thyroid.

Best 15 bucks a month I've ever spent.

My dr wants me on bc and anti-depressants for mine. I find that just having me time and getting exercise helps a bunch.

I also apologize to everybody when I do get bad!

I should also add, I had someone suggest the evening primrose to me, and while it's good for eczema, there's not really any science behind it working for anything other than mild menopausal symptoms. It didn't touch my issues. Mine were entirely too severe (pmdd it's called I think) and mine was a hormonal imbalance I wasnt willing to medicate myself on an antidepressant for.

Yes, I tried the evening primrose a few years back, and I didn't notice any difference. I was hoping to hear a little more!! darn.
  • My sister has a condition, I think it's called PMD (pre-menstrual depression?) or something like that, but she gets extremely depressed before she gets her period, like irrational, crying, and thinking about killing herself, for no apparent reason...and then she gets her period and everythings fine...

exercising does help - but I gotta say - i have a few days at the onset when I am physically WORE OUT. It's killer.. The very last thing I want to do is work out on those days.. ugh!

You are totally not alone here. While BC pills freed me from the grip of PMS (or so it felt like it), they caused my feet to swell... so I took the lesser of evils and just stuck with lady PMS. Most of the time I'm a bubbly individual who loves to laugh and just have fun... But like some sort of sick witch's spell that hits me at the end of every month, I become this super *****. I'm quite irritable, super sensitive about things that I would otherwise shrug off....and then there's the Garfield-esque appetite that goes with it. Other awful symptoms include: Grogginess/exhausted, incredibly depression, and dizzy spells....oh and the migraines.

Oh and that one point where you become super duper... well.. horny. :blushing: Just telling it like it is.

Haha, too funny - but one part that grabbed me is "super sensitive to things you'd normally shrug off." This is the biggest problem i have.. it's like every little thing is more intensified, and it makes me CRAZY!!!!!
