I am getting ready to go to a conference out of town for about 4 days and am ABSOLUTELY terrified that I will blow it and gain back the 10 lbs I've lost. I don't want to gain any! Does anyone have any tips on how to
travel and still eat healthy? I don't want to feel cheated or unable to enjoy myself, but at the same time I definitely do not want to undo my hard work...even just little.

  • If you want something, have it! Just eat it in moderation and then remember to count it in your daily calorie total.

I'm in the same boat! We leave on Wed. for San Diego and Disneyland. I don't want to be overly concerned about what I"m eating, but I don't want to go overboard either. I'm hoping walking through the zoo, seaWorld and Disneyland with a 6 and 3 yr old will help. Does your hotel have a fitness center? Maybe sneak in an extra workout or 2.
  • I have gone out of town several times since I started using MFP. I totally agree with the two previous posts. I found that eating what you want in moderation and making sure that you get your exercise in every day will work out well. Try to stay at a hotel or B&B with a fitness room or at least a tread mill or elliptical machine. You can do it!
  • Hello,
I've just returned from a 5 day trip/music conference. I bought some of those ziploc bowls that hold 1/2 or 1 cup of items. I also took along a small cooler with my luggage.
I sliced up strawberries. I took along cups of grapes. I also took baby carrots, & bananas, a small quart of skim milk , 3 yogurts & my Rasin Bran Crunch.
Each day throw one of the fruit bowls into your purse to have a snack with you & a banana too.
I ate one meal a day and made wise choices. In my room each evening I ate cereal & fruit and a yougurt too.
My problem was the water. I never drank my 8 a day while gone to Nashville....shame on me, however I didn't gain any weight. :drinker:
I hope this is helpful for you. I will be traveling all year & maybe I'll see some ideas for me too on your question. Good luck, take care,

I took a small notebook not my laptop. I recorded my foods ea. nite in my room & logged them in on my return.

great idea using the pre measured bowls. At least then I'd be aware how much I'm eating!
  • Wishin' ya luck! Bren

Thanks for the ideas everyone! Think taking some easy lunches like those tuna kits and snacks, packing my work out clothes and then just eating dinner out (But watching it) is a good plan. Merci!
