Okay. I posted something similar to this among my friends in my blog, so here goes. I have a seizure condition, so I still live with my parents. Keep that in mind. In early May, my dad has a birthday, which means cake in the house, and THAT could blow my diet!!! I love cake, but I don't want to go overboard, so do I just suck it up and have one piece, or have none and feel bad about it? It'll eat at me either way...

I also LOVE cake and therefore would have a piece.
If it is a sheet cake, take a piece from the middle, they have less frosting than the outer pieces.
Take a small piece and truly enjoy it

Well considering it's gonna be a single layer round cake, it'll be gone pretty quick. It's just that it's one of my weaknesses. Chocolate, now THAT'S my largest weakness, my kryptonite. And most likely the cake will be chocolate!!! :ohwell:

It's your dad's birthday--that's special--eat the cake. You did not get overweight on one piece of cake and one piece of cake will not completely blow your diet and cause the end of the world as we know it. This is a long learning process about how we deal with food, not a punishment. Enjoy the cake.

My birthday is may 11th and even though I'm very strict about my "diet" I actually just ordered myself a cake! Its the only time I ever get my favorite kind of cake, its a very particular recipe, so I'm going to try and reasonably indulge that day :) I stick to my diet 90 percent of the time so that I can enjoy those special occasions without feeling guilty. Although I actually enjoy my diet every other day as well because nothing tastes better to me than real, whole food :) I only feel guilty if I end up caving to an unplanned craving, but that's just me knowing that it is most likely emotional eating or ineffective planning. I say enjoy the cake knowing that it's a planned treat. Total deprivation only sets you up for failure in my opinion. Knowing I can celebrate special occasions even if they often come around, helps me keep my portion sizes reasonable and that overall fits into my lifestyle and my plan. :)

Eat it, girl! Celebration only come around a couple times a year, so enjoy them. Just work out that morning to earn the extra calories and do not take any home. It will just be added temptation. You got this!
