Hi,
I've recently come back from Hawaii where I went with my husband and 2 kids. While there, I nearly thought I was going to die! I tried body boarding (because in my head I am 15 years younger and fit and athletic) My legs were trembling by about the 4th go as I tried to heave my large body up out of the surf...at one point I thought it would be better if the waves just dragged me out to sea, because I physically thought it would be easier than trying to struggle to my feet again!
I realized like a kick to the head and a few moments of shear panic that indeed I was getting older and my weight is keeping me from doing things I want to do! But it couldnt be because I want to body surf, I want to try kite surfing, I want to do things!
I had a flash of this feeling that if I didn't do something now, I wont get to do any of them because I physically can't.
So...
I'm on day 3 of diligently tracking food and calories with MFP.
I have started the Couch to 5k running program. I am still in the first week of that.
I have alot to lose.
My CW is 212.5
Goal weight is somewhere in the 130's
I'm equally interested in achieving my goal to be able to run any distance without feeling like I am going to die ; )
I currently am that person who struggles with every step, and feels like they are going to have a mild stroke any second when I try to exercise, and I'm sure I must look like a hot mess.
My short term goal is 12 weeks, which will end just around my birthday, so this is like a birthday present to myself. If all goes well on my 34th birthday, I should feel and look better, and nothing is better than that! At the same time I will have to renew my drivers license picture, so I believe the universe is trying to tell me "now is the time!" : )
I want to see what I can do, no excuses, this is all me, if I fail its on me, if I succeed its on me : )
I hope to find encouragement in times of weakness and chocolate cravings and some one who will tell me to get my butt outside and run when I try to come up with every excuse in the book not too.
I'd love to have a buddy online who is really motivated, and to share milestones and encouragement as well as being able to call out an excuse when there is one. : )

Welcome to MFP!!
I believe in eating and doing this the right way. Eating healthy, exercising and knowing it will come off but not in a week.
Exercise is all in training. You're not going to go out and run a 5k one day without training.
Exercise is the same. Take is one day at a time. Do things that you like instead of dreading to exercise. My exercise of choice is 1st - Aqua Zumba. This is so much fun it doesn't seem like exercise. 2nd is Water Aerobics - cardio (not to be confused with arthritis) and 3rd - walking. Can't stand running, elliptical, boring dread mill (tread mill) but I will do them on occasion.
Feel free to add me and if you're diary isn't public, consider making it public. It really does help keep you accountable.
Wish you the best of luck.
You'll be surfing before you know it!!0
