bmi doesnt seem realistic

i looked up my bmi for my height. It says i should weigh 186lbs at the top end. I haven't weighed 186 since i was in my early 20's. I've been around 210lbs from my late 20's to late 30's. I was my fittest. I couldn't do my work at 186lbs. It just doesn't seem like a real number to me. I don't want to be that skinny. Anybody feel that way, or am i wrong?

totally!! for my height i'm supposed to weigh between 104 and 130!! that's a 100 lb loss for me (at the high end range of 130) i do NOT want to be that skinny! i want meat on my bones and i love having curves! Set your goal for what u want to be... not what "they" say u should be!
  • If your job requires a lot of intense physical labor, you're going to be more muscular than the average person at your height. Muscle weighs more than fat. You can have a low BF%, be very muscular, and be "overweight" according to the BMI.

BMI was not created to be an indicator of individual health, actually. It was intended to be used for population studies.

Don't sweat it. Get to a weight where you feel healthy. That's what's important.
