This much to lose?
CW: 322.4
GW: 130-150
That's almost 200 pounds. It seems so unobtainable >.<
Or has anyone around hear lost that much? How long did it take? I feel like its gonna take me forever.
I also now feel like a spoiled child >.<

Instead of focusing on how much you have to lose overall, set smaller goals. By doing that, you'll feel great when you accomplish those small goals.

What about thinking of a reward for yourself (manicure, hair cut - something NOT food related) when you hit 300lbs. That's only 22lbs from where you are now. When you achieve that goal, set another small goal. Before you know it, you'll be at your final goal!

    You can do it!

Don't focus on that large number, just work your way through your mini goals and keep going. My mom started at 326 and is now 300 even. Now she's focusing on her next goal of getting into the two's. It may take awhile, but nothing will be more rewarding.

    I agree 100% with chevy88grl.

When you look at the big picture of anything, it can be soo overwhelming. By focusing on smaller goals, and fitness goals, I find this journey enjoyable and working out no longer feels like a chore. In fact, I love it!

I am looking forward to a haircut, manicure, pedicure, and my first tattoo!

    Good luck!

I agree... set mini goals (ie: 10lbs at a time) and maybe in-between each, you can 'reward' yourself... I rewarded myself at each quarter mark ( to which I've only accomplished one thus far), but that is just what I did for me.

You can do it... 'lil by 'lil... Every lb you are down is one less than you were yesterday, last wk, or even a month ago... That is success in my book :)

I started with 248 pounds to lose. The smaller goals do help.

I know exactly how you feel. When I started in January I set a goal of losing 250 pounds. So far, i have lost 36. The idea of losing more than 1/2 of my body weight scared the crap out of me. I really did not think I could do it. But, I started. I know it will take me 2-3 years to get to my goal. But, i am already seeing changes. Don't get discouraged. Take it 10 pounds at a time. That is what I do. I set smaller goals. For example, I am going to visit my family in June in Michigan. My goal is to have 50 pounds off by the time I leave. Another thing I do is a prize list. i treat myself to something I want every 10 pounds. it is something I want not need and can not be food. When i lost 10 pounds I spent 10 dollars buying Nook books. When I lost 20 I spend 20 on something else. When I lost 30 I spend 30 on some hand lotion i wanted. You get the idea.

i hope I can support you in your journey and you will support me.

Split it up into small obtainable goals, like every 15lbs you lose you get something cool, like a facial or something fun like a night out, or whatever you fancy. And right down all of the goals and keep looking at it when you feel low, I know how it feels, I have 100lbs to lose, so your angst would be double mine, but splitting it up helps me. There is no easy way out of what we are doing, it will take a long time but in the grand scheme of things it is nothing. Even if it takes 2-3 years + that is a tiny time out of your life and it will be mega worth it. Try to put it to the back of your mind and work day to day and week to week. You can do it!

I like what Chevy said about setting smaller goals for yourself. That does make it a lot easier.

I have lost 140 lbs over a 6 year span (several months trying followed by several months of not trying. Kind of yo-yo dieting until I came here to make a lifestyle change).

The thing that would get me back on the horse was looking at smaller goals. For example, I started out at 280, so my first goal was 250. Then to get down to a size 18 (which happened at around 220). Then it was to get under 200. Then to hit 165 (high end of overweight). Then to hit 140 (high end of healthy). And now I am going by 5 pound increments & clothing sizes as well as monitoring body fat percentage.

Life can be pretty frustrating, I know. Before I came on here I lost 40 pounds on my own since September 2010. It felt like forever, but I got THAT much off!!! One day at a time. I wasn't getting much exercise in then, now there's hardly a day that I don't get in some kind of workout. My grandfather had a pin with a saying on it that I follow all the time when I get a little discouraged: I can, I will. It's worked for me when the Serenity Prayer hasn't. And the fact that knowing I'll be fitting into some smaller clothes with every few pounds lost makes me feel great!!! I know one thing, I can't wait until I can start buying my clothes off the regular size racks instead of in the Plus Size isle. That alone is incentive enough for me!!! My first goal? To buy a top that reads XL on the tag, not 1X!!! Now there's something to think about!!!

Mini-goals sound like a fantastic idea. Every 10 lbs maybe a small reward and 25 lbs a bigger one.
And every milestone something super special.
Hmm, plus with the way I like to plan, label, and list making everything on paper would help a lot
Thanks guys I feel a lot better now

    one day at a time!

Set short goals for yourself (10lbs at a time)
Think of every day is one step closer to your diet. Think of every bad day one step backwards.
