Wasabi Peas?

Hi all,

So I really really REALLY love those wasabi peas (like the ones you buy in the clear plastic tub at Whole Foods) but they are so high in calories for such a small amount! I'm sure it's due to all the oil/frying.
Does anybody know of a recipe to make my own that would be lower in calories?
Or does anybody know of a brand that had less calories than others? Most ones I've seen are about 120 calories for only 1/4 cup.

    Ingredients

    2 cups fresh peas
    2 tablespoons canola oil
    1/4 cup wasabi paste (pictured below)
    2 teaspoons wasabi powder
    1 tablespoon rice vinegar
    1 teaspoon of corn starch
    1 teaspoon water
    1/2 teaspoon mustard powder
    1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
    sea salt

    Directions

    1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Coat a large baking sheet with canola oil.
    2. Transfer the peas to the baking sheet and move them around in the oil. Season with sea salt, mustard powder and garlic powder.
    3. Bake for 6 hours, stirring every 30 minutes, or until the peas are dry.
    4. In a large bowl, mix together the wasabi paste, rice vinegar, water and corn starch. When the peas are dried out and ready, pour them into the bowl and coat them with the mixture.
    5. Pour the peas back onto the baking sheet and bake for another 10 – 20 minutes, or until the peas are crisp and completely dry.
    6. To make a wasabi pea coating for fish, just take the dried peas and grind them up in a food processor with some Parmesan cheese and panko or bread crumbs.

    Awesome, thanks! That comes out to ~85 calories for 1/4 cup (maybe less, I'm just assuming 2 cups of fresh peas makes 2 cups of wasabi peas without accounting for the size of the seasoning)

    I know 120 calories doesn't seem like a lot for a snack, but it's hard to eat only one serving size; If I weren't measuring it out, I would probably have twice or more of that. Since I'm only doing 1300 calories/day, that would knock a big dent out of my dinner for later haha
