Hello. My name is Megan. I've been a member for a while but I'm finally going to start taking everything seriously. My typical diet habits are a roller coaster. I will do great for a week then binge for two weeks and so on. I had stopped really logging and counting calories a while back when I was trying to "eat clean". I love love love the idea of eating clean but what I have come to realize is it's just unrealistic for me and I think that's what contributed to my binging. I honestly just don't have the time to create clean meals for an entire week on Sunday. I think calorie counting just keeps me happier. I still choose to eat plenty of healthy foods but at the same time I don't feel the guilt afterwards and I end up eating less. I do LOVE the gym but honestly I only make it there 3 times per week and clearly I need more!

I am 27, a mom/wife/teacher I'm working on a reading endorsement so the next few months are additionally stressful. I am 197 lbs and only 5'4! My husband is also over weight. We were not when we met 10 years ago in high school. We were denied last week for life insurance. We'd have to pay an additional 300/year for coverage or accept a lower amount of coverage. That did it for me. SO here I am, back, tracking, and reading through the forums. i even changed my weight to reflect my current weight and not the weight I was back in Nov, the last time I weighed 9 lbs less. If I'm going to do this, I'm doing it right!

  • I wish you the best of luck! It's definitely hard to eat cleaner. but if you're counting your calories and staying within that target, that alone should help. I've found really tracking that I'm already making more progress. I signed up on here 2 weeks ago, and weighed in yesterday and was down 4.6lbs. and last week was a bad week of slacking and not exercising. I'm eating cleaner and I've subbed out all my drinks for water instead of anything else. which is helping because I'm not losing calories on juice.. and I just eat my fruit and get natural sugars that way, which I think is helping a bit too.
You can do it, if you stick to it. It will work that much more effectively if your husband will also eat cleaner, because then you have the support from him to fall back on.. there are tones of awesome recipes out there. I originally started using the weight watchers cookbook--and I lost a tone of weight that way, the recipes are out there and easy, you just have to really want to stick to it.
I wish you all the best of luck, feel free to friend me, if you want!! :)

Hi there! I am pretty new to MFP. I've used the app for about 10 days now and really LOVE it! I decided this morning to check out the community to gain some "friends" and get some encouragement. I love reading about other people's success. It encourages me. I am a repeat diet failure. I have to say that I have been inside a gym once...well maybe twice. I'd love to join one, but I find it so intimidating! I think right now I will have to start small with walking...and it doesn't cost me any more than a pair of sneakers. For now I have to take care of my foot though and then I should be able to start working in some walking. I have decided I am going to start out small and as I get healthier and happier I can, and will, do more. Good luck on your MFP adventure!
