I don't know how many calories I'm supposed to eat??

I have my calorie limit set to 1200 and sometimes I'm on target and other days I have between 1500-1600 which I'm fine with and I thought I was doing really well keeping to my goals but my weight loss has been very slow. I was on a website calculating what my intake should be and it said 1850 for average and 1700 for extreme weight loss. Am I putting myself in starvation mode? 1800 seems like a lot to me... I really want to do my weight loss the "right way" whatever that is. I am not very weight loss savvy I only have the old standby "eat less, move more" understanding. So thanks in advance for any helpful advice

did it tell you 1200 here on this site? that is what mine is. The only way you should eat more than that is eating the calories you burn off with exercising. I would suggest get a hrm (heart rat monitor) one that also tells you the calories burnt, that way you know how many more calories to eat that day.
If you eat too little your body will not loose the weight as it will go into starvation mode. Hope that helps. you can add me as a friend if you like0 -

Go to www.fit2fatradio.com. There you will find a BMR caluator that will break down how many cal you should be eating based on your activty level and BMR. It really helped me determine what my body fat % and BMR was so I can eat whats best for me.

So if you use this method, you do not count or eat back exercise calories, correct?0

you can lose weight using MFP's system, or Weight Watchers, or Fat2Fit, or make up your own. Everything works, maybe not for everyone, but there's something to be learned, and no "right" philosophy of doing it. That said....you can't combine everything into a big dogmatic pile of "shoulds" and be able to understand what's going on. Choose one, make it work for you, and if it isn't a good fit, try something else.0
