What is happening with my body?

So here's the backstory:

I'd been stuck on a plateau of 205-210lbs for about a year and a half. I was watching calories, just not writing it all down, and exercising maybe once every other day. Then every start of the month I'd get frustrated and really "get back on the wagon", counting calories, exercising 5 times a week, and giving it my all. But I STILL wouldn't lose any weight or inches. By the third week, I'd give up and go back to normal eating and not working out.

The last week has been vastly different, however. The week prior, I was "back on the wagon", but this week my boyfriend had a friend visiting, which has resulted in ordered in pizza (I got a salad instead) and no time to exercise. The day before the friend's visit, I got some rather bad news which upset me to the point of skipping dinner, then went to bed and didn't wake up until noon the next day, resulting in basically a "fast" for 24 hours. I'm not sure what happened, but even without exercising and even with indulging in a few slices of pizza, over the past week I've dropped 4lbs and gone below the 200lb mark for the first time in over two years.

What do you think is going on? Do you think the "fast" kicked something in my body into gear and is letting me finally let go of the weight, even though I'm eating the same as I always have and am not working out? I plan to start working out again as soon as his friend is gone (tomorrow), but I was just curious if anyone had any ideas as to why when I actually try to lose weight, I get stuck, but when I let go a bit, I suddenly meet a goal that I've been struggling to get to for the past year? Has anyone else had similar experiences where their body just decides to suddenly let go of the weight?

First of all, I would see a doctor. If you are exercising and eating the correct amount of calories, you should be dropping weight. I'm worried for you that there's a thyroid problem or something bigger going on that's making it hard to get the weight to come off.

Secondly, congrats on being under 200 even if it is by accident!!!

Alright. Down to what you actually asked. I lost most of my weight by not exercising and eating 1200 calories a day. I don't suggest this since obviously exercise is healthy, but it was harder for me to lose weight while exercising. It's totally possible your body has grown accustomed to the lifestyle it had, and this was shifting this lifestyle that made stuff move around. If I were you, I'd experiment with the 1200 intake with lower impact exercise like walking or swimming.

    GOOD LUCK!
