Right calories to reach my goal?

I am horribly depressed today after realizing while I thought I was maintaining my weight, really I was slowly gaining. I am now in a size bigger pants. I am not happy with what I see in the mirror. I workout a good amount 5 to 6 times a week doing Insanity or different things. So I am just eating to much.
I have my calorie goals set to 1700 and don't eat my exercise back. My TDEE is about 2000 I really what to lose 5lbs do those calories sound right? I almost feel I need to lower them more for those weekends that I go over.

I am personally at 1620 cals per day. My maintenance is 2100. I lost 6 pounds in 2 and a half weeks exercising 4-6 times per week. Maybe just lower your cals a little bit.0

How long have you been eating that much and how long have you been doing insanity? Also can you make you diary public? If you just start insanity its water retention. Because if you arent eating tdee + 500 it isnt fat. My next question is have you used an online calc to estimate your bmr?0

I took last week off from Insanity but was doing other workouts. I start week 7 tomorrow. I just lower my calories to 1700 last week.
Before that I was eating closer to 1900 maybe more and that is why I am gaining.
Fat to fit says 1313 I think for my bmr.
I was eating mfp's .5lb a week lose calories of 1470 and eating my exercise back.0 -

One of the reasons I changed my goals to one set number is so I will take a rest day and not feel like I cant eat anything.
My pants are tighter in my waist and legs and I have more to pinch now in my middle. I would like it to be water. I also would love a week off, but I worry if I stop Insanity for to long I will have to start over to finish it. I am kind of ready to be done with it and say I did it, and move on.

If you look at what happened last night you can see why I am gaining. I had to many beers and then ate candy. That has happened a few times, which is why I almost want to eat lower during the week to make up for that, but I guess that wouldn't last long. I just need to quit the drinking!0

I would suspect the alcohol playing of the part in your weight gain. Alcohol slows your metabolism as your body fights to remove it from your system. Decreasing the amount of alcohol and replacing it with good nutritious food is where you will see the improvements. The question is, whats more important to you now?0
