5 months, 69 pounds lost. Why am I so emotional?

My subject line says it all. Today marks 5 months and 69 pounds lost. However, I am wondering why I am sometimes now an emotional trainwreck. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the relatively quick weight loss. No surgery or medications to lose weight. Just watching what I'm eating and logging everything on MFP daily. Anyone else experience this?

I'm not emotional to say the truth but i'm amazed that i could follow a diet for more than two weeks. Right now, 8 months later i'm closer to my goal than ever. Whenever i try clothes that never fit me i start jumping out of joy :D
5 months, 69 pounds?!? No wonder you're emotional!!! Well done! You're right, a lot of people would have opted for a gastric bypass or medication.
From now on focus on following a maintenance diet (after reaching your final goal, whatever that maybe) and keep a healthy lifestyle! Keep your old bad habits at bay!

Yes - I experience this every day. I can only speak for myself but I use food to go numb, much like other people use drugs, gambling, shopping, alcohol, or any number of other addictions. So, when you take my drug of choice (food) away, all of the emotions the food is "stuffing down" come to the surface. What I feel most of the time is a lot of fear, sorrow and anger. Part of getting well for me is learning how to be human and authentic and negotiate all of those emotions without overeating or acting out in some other way.
Hope this helps - and if you need support I will gladly be your friend. Blessings!
