super long days = more calories?

I work 3rd shift 2 days a week. The day going into the night shift I am awake for about 27 hours and the day I come off 3rd shift I am awake for close to 30 hours. The long days make me very hungry. If my body can't have sleep then it wants food and it especially craves carbs! I only have 1200 cals to play with (Doctor prescribed diet). It's reasonable to assume I should be eating more on those days, right? I need to come up with a plan for consistancy and accountability sake.

Yikes, that's def a tough one.

I'd run it past your doc, since you're on a prescribed diet. Maybe treat each 16-hour block of time as one "day?" That way you'd eat roughly 2400 cals in your 30-hour time frame? It seems unhealthy to try and survive off of 1200 cals in 30 hours.

If you're craving carbs, maybe keep some low-cal rice cakes around?

You should talk to your dr. It seems to me if you are up and moving that long you must need more food but since you're dr. supervised you should find out.
