We are getting a home gym handed down to us and i have never used one before. I have no idea what to do or how to do things correctly? As of till today i have only done cardio and then 30 ds and rin30. so that is as far as strength has gone for me. I am wondering if i do cardio 3 days a week and then strength 2-3 days is that ok? doing them on separate days? and i will do 30-40 min cardio and then 3 reps of how ever many i should be doing with the moves on the machine... just got to try to figure out what moves i will be doing on this machine.. am i correctly thinking?

my weighloss has completely slowed right down and this is what i thought might help it by completely changing up my exercise routine..

If you don't know how to do the weights, I would suggest at least paying for an initial consult at a gym with a trainer to learn how to do them properly so you don't injure yourself. Home gyms can be just as effective as going to a 'real' gym.

Everyone should have a nice mix of cardio and strength training. How much of each depends on their specific goals, but every routine should have some of both in it.

As for what lifts you should be doing, it will depend on the home gym you are getting and what it can handle. Ideally you'll want to be doing compound lifts (squats, bench, pull-ups, deadlifts, shoulder presses), but most typical home gyms are geared for isolation movements. Regardless, some strength training is better than no strength training.

Keep the weight high and the reps low. 3-5 sets, 5-8 reps of as much weight as you can possibly manage.
