Heart Rate Monitor Advice?

I'm looking into buying a hrm for a more accurate read on how many calories I'm burning (during exercise and during the day).
Any suggestions on brands? They are expensive and I want to make sure I get a good one.
I've heard the Timex T5H881 Zone Trainer Digital is a good one, but I also hear it might be too small for my frame.
Are the ones without the chest strap worth it?
Does anyone have a good one they've worked with and found accurate readings with? Or know anything about the sizing of the Timex T5H881?
Thanks

I love my Polar F4. It's so much easier to use because of the chest strap, which is adjustable.0
