why we eat when we work/study

Definitely not procrastinating from essays or anything by posting this...

But my friend went on a course the other day that said the reason people find they eat so much when they work is that when you are fed as a baby, you see a bottle, reach for it, and put it to your mouth. There is a kind of triangle between your eyes, hands and mouth. When you are little the only thing you really concentrate on is eating enough to survive- so you come to connect this triangle with concentration in your subconsciousness.

So when you are studying or reading or doing something you need to concentrate on, the theory goes that, by lifting food to your face and eating as you go, you subconsciously concentrate more. Think about times you get revision munchies! I can easily demolish a packet of biscuits in less than 30 minutes when studying... Apparently this is why!

I don't know i it really helps, but I thought it was pretty interesting- and a fairly good way to procrastinate, too!

That's interesting - I just posted a topic about a week ago saying how I can't concentrate on studying unless I'm snacking on something!
