Running abroad

I just posted a topic about running through mental barriers but I just remembered this so I'll post while it's fresh in my mind!
I'm traveling to Italy in May for a 6-week study abroad trip with some traveling out of the country on the weekends (possibly London, elsewhere in Italy). I want to keep up my running habits while abroad, and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with running etiquette, clothing, etc that is acceptable abroad, specifically in Europe. I may be thinking too much into this but I don't want to make a fool of myself... well not TOO much of a fool
Also, any advice to stay motivated while traveling would be appreciated as well!
