Oxygen consumption test to get resting metabolic rate?

Has anyone else done this test to get their actual resting metabolic rate? You fast for 12 hours and they have you lay down and measure your oxygen consumption for 20 minutes. I did mine a few weeks ago and so far the scale has not moved (once I implemented the new calorie levels). I guess I just expected it to happen once I knew the "magical" number.
