Newbie to MFP here. I joined almost 2 weeks ago at the request of my newly hired personal trainer. I had never seen or heard of this site prior to that, however; now that I have used it for over a week I can definitely see the benefits of it.

Just a bit of personal background - I've been a musician since the age of 9 and it remains my biggest passion. My favorite instrument to play is bass, followed by drums, guitar, keys and vocals. I have experience in all phases of the music business and my tastes are primarily of the non-commercial variety.

For most of my adult life I was in pretty good shape. I worked out on a regular basis and ate healthy. However, 6 years ago I started taking medication that caused weight gain (and weight retention). Even though I fought the gain every step of the way with consistent exercise, my metabolism had completely changed and rendered me unable to lose. Several doctors, nutritionists and personal trainers later, I finally reached a breaking point within the past couple of months and was able to kick one of the meds. I have a couple more to get off of, but I already see and feel a bit of a difference and hopefully I won't plateau any time soon. I mainly want to get back in shape to feel better, look better and be able to get on stage again with confidence. And of course it would also be nice if my wife were unable to keep her hands off of me. :glasses:

I'm not the most social guy on the planet, so please excuse any initial skepticism if you decide to send me a friend request. I'm terminally cynical but I'm also very warm towards the people in my life that I care about, so if you think we may have something in common don't be afraid to hit me up.
