Having a Hysterectomy - Any Advice?

I'm scheduled to have a partial hysterectomy (keeping my ovaries) in a few months. Have any of you had this done after losing weight and getting healthy? Do you have any advice on how to prepare, so that all my hard work doesn't go down the drain? I've worked so hard to lose all the baby weight over the last couple of years. I feel like I'm in better shape than I've been in my whole life. I'm terrified that getting laid up for 4-6 weeks is going to put me back so far. Any advice on how to get back to the gym afterward without sacrificing my progress? Suggestions for things I can do at home?
By the way, I plan to follow my doctor's advice 100% - just want to put that out there before anyone starts bashing me about that.

I don't have any experienced based advice for you but I recommend just taking it easy.
Take your time recovering and don't push yourself and/or stress yourself over it as it might delay your recovery process.
Let your capable loved ones take care of things around the house for you while you focus on your getting the necessary rest to obtaining a quicker recovery.
A few weeks out of the program is just a minor set back not and the end to end all. Just remember, you've made it to where you are now with less knowledge. Now you're not only motivated, driven and completely capable of getting there again (if need be), but you have the base knowledge and experience of getting back there again.
But none of that really matters because a few weeks shouldn't set you back too terribly.

Your body will tell you how much you can or can't do (so listen carefully) Don't try and push it too much too soon, or you will pay for it for a few days with aches and pains)
My advice would be to get pro active now with meal planning. Maybe cook up so low cal/fat meals and freeze in portions so that it's easy for you or those caring for you to zap in the microwave.
Make a standard shopping list for who ever is going grocery shopping for you, and stick up well before you go.
This will help to take your mind off things too:)
I know it's scary, so try not to dwell on it if at all possible. You won't regret having this op, it's lovely not having Aunt Flo visit every month.

My Sister had a hysterectomy a couple of years before me, and anytime I had a concern I would call her up, most times she had gone through the same thing, so I knew it was normal.

Thanks for the advice! I hadn't thought about making and freezing meals ahead of time. That's a great idea.
And I'll definitely be relying on my capable loved ones. I'm putting them to work!
