CALORIES IN VS. CALORIES OUT

Can someone please explain to me the reasoning of the calories in vs. calories out? I get the general idea, but what i really find confusing in the weight loss reasoning is that if i exercise, I eat MORE food. Isn't that why i'm exercising?? To burn off extra so that I lose weight? I am totally confused!!

Exercising does not increase your appetite. In fact, it actually slows down your appetite for a good hour after cardiovascular exercise. There are two ways of looking at it. So if you have a daily allowance of 1500 calories, and eat, for example 2000 calories, but burn off 500 by running, then you are still on target to lose weight. There are two options: you can exercise so that you are allowed to eat more, which is how MyFitnessPal calculates it, or you can eat within your allowance, and by exercising, create a bigger defecit, and lose more weight.
Does that make sense? Hope so. Good luck :flowerforyou:0
