Are protein shakes right for me?

I have vanilla whey protein but I'm not sure if I should be taking it.
I'm trying to lose 10 pounds.. I run for 20-30 mins then I do 20 mins of the 30 day shred every day.
If I'm getting protein from chicken salads and egg whites, should I still take whey protein? And if so, how much should I take a day? (the scoop is so big)
