Hi everyone, I recently joined MFP and I wondered if any of you could help me.
I have been staing inside my calorie goal and I work out 6-7 days a week. I do Body attack(high intensity interval training) on MOnday, Step ( high internsity interval training) and Body Pump( weight lifting) on tuesday and Thursday, Sh'bam ( like Zumba with more hip hop) on Wednesday, RPM ( stationary bike, interval training as well) on friday and Sunday, Body pump on Saturday and RPM on Sunday. If I feel I have pushed too hard I will take either Wednesday or Sunday off but never more than one day. I am eating 1,200-1,400 cals a day. I have noticed I am going over in sodium and protien. I am trying to re learn food. I grew up on TV dinners and hot dogs. I have no idea how to be healthy but I am learning.
Any ideas/suggestions?

First off you're over exercising. You NEED one rest day a week (at least) to let your body rest. Working out seven days a week is not needed and is harmful.

Are you netting those calories? If not then yes you are not eating enough. If you are Would need to know BMR and TDEE to know if you're under eating. (1200-1400 you are most definitely not overrating and more than likely under eating)

Yep, you are definitely over exercising. you need to take one or preferably two rest days a week. you can go out for walks on those days but really, noone needs that much cardio.

I'd keep the two body pumps (with an aim of moving to lifting outside of a class instead) and three cardio classes.

Also, if you can give us your height, weight, age etc then we can advise you better. I'd say though, that it does not sound like enough.
  • Agree with prior poster. Forget the food for a minute, you're not going to accomplish anything with that much exercise. You're going to wear your body down and it will never have a chance to recover. ONE day of rest MINIMUM.... preferably 2 (spaced apart).

In regards to food, you are not eating enough if your NET calorie intake is 1200-1400. 1200 "might" be ok for a day of rest (which you really have none). On days you are working out, you're going to need at least 1600 or so. If you want true change, you need to re-evaluate what you're doing.
