Losing inches but not lbs?

So for the past month and a half I've been hitting the gym pretty regularly (3x a week minimum sometimes more) and have been doing cardio and circuit training. Its only been for about the past 3 weeks that I've done very well staying within my calorie range (1200-1500) and I have seen no difference on my scale. I know I've lost inches because my clothes feel looser although I have not actually done measurements (i plan to at some point) so i'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this? I feel like I should have lost at least 1 lb right? Could I really have built up enough musle in this timeframe that it weighs as much as fat i've lost? Thanks for any info

so so so so so common and prolly one of the most asked questions here.
It is because you are replacing fat with lean muscle0 -
Tigerlilly, I asked the same question a few weeks ago. I was losing inches (still am), but not pounds. The lost pounds are finally showing up on the scale.
Try not to be too focused on the scale.
Congratulations and keep up the great work. You're doing an awesome job.0 -
This means you're getting leaner and fitter- and that's the goal, right? (It should be, because nobody knows what you weigh except you. They just know how slim you look!)0

Congrats on your success, it's such a rad feeling when your clothes fit better than ever
DEFINITELY invest in a tape measurer, it's seriously such a rewarding feeling to see those numbers drop.0 -
I'm in the same boat as you. First, I lost 5 pounds back in February, from cutting out fast food. Haven't lost a pound since, but so far have lost: 2 inches from my waist, an inch from my thigh, .25 inch gain on my calves, .75 gain on my biceps. I started working out in February, but started going regularly like 3-4 times per week as of early/mid April. Now I'm trying to go 4-6 times per week.0
