Chicken confusion!

I'm planning on having some flavoured chicken drumsticks which I bought from Iceland for dinner. The bar code isn't recognised but I've found a similar food in the database. Now my problem is that, on the packaging, it says 173 calories for 100g excluding the bone. Is the similar drumsticks in the database likely to be weighed with or without the bone?

It's the Adsa Chinese style drumsticks I'm looking at if that helps.

Thanks.

that's a good question, sorry i don't know. i would err on the side of caution and use the calorie count that is the highest and if you're wrong, at least you're wrong on the right end. LOL (i always count more than i actually eat on a food that isn't in the database, just in case)

Check out the database for chicken drumsticks. It will show with skin and without. I would choose the one that seems the closest to what I ate. You can click on "nutrition" to see the calories count of the food.

You can add the iceland ones to the database, that way you get accurate calorie count, and you help out anyone else that might like to look for the iceland drumsticks in the future! (I found a lot of iceland stuff isn't on there, so had to do the same the other day by adding their lean frozen mince)

Why don't you weigh the chicken with the bone, eat it and then weigh the bone itself and just take off the bone weight from the overall drumstick. You should have a rough estimate of how many grams of you chicken you have eaten.

Just add the food itself into the database manually.

Thanks everyone, I think I sorted it!

I will put things into the database....once I figure out how! (I'm a newbie :))
