Simple common sense tells you that less weight on your feet, knees and hips will make tings easier.
I spent most of my life working every day on concrete and I agree that it is very hard on your lower body.0 -
Are you doing any programs? Or just diet? I work 12 hr days with commute 5 days a week and found work out at home programs are the way to go.0

The short and skinny, YES you can do it. When I turned 50 (2005) I was 100 pounds overweight and was beginning to suffer the health issues from it. My doctor recommended a medically supervised weight loss program (liquid fast) that I participated in for six months and lost 75 pounds. I then joined Weight Watchers and lost an additional 25 pounds. This takes up to probably 2007-2008. I kept most of the weight off (I think I gained back 15 pounds) until 2009 - 2010, the year from Hell. I had so many very stressful things happening during that time, a very stressful job with a boss that was just crazy to put it bluntly. And then also a son with an ex-girlfriend that was stalking him, breaking out windows in our vehicles, etc. causing constant phone calls to the police department. Needless to say, I gained an additional 35 pounds during this time. I have since changed jobs and the ex-girlfriend if she bothers us again will serve time in prison so we have not heard from her recently. On October 1st, I decided to joing MFP and have lost 43 of those 50 and still losing. So yes, you can do it. You of course must be disciplined. I pretty much gave up eating anything that does not have nutritional value. You just have to want it bad enough.0

Shoes make a difference too! I have found that although I have only lost about 25 pounds so far, exercises that makes me move my hips and knees in different ways other than normal walking movements (leslie sansone DVD's) have helped my hip pain tremendously! I still have some after standing all day, but it is better - so yes, at least in my case it does get better.0
