Pedometer Question

I just bought a pedometer last night. The model I bought says that it calculates the calories you're burning. Has any had one and a heart rate monitor to compare how accurate the pedometer is? I don't have a heart rate monitor so I don't know. The pedometer has me enter my height and weight into when I first set it up and then I can reset it once I lose weight.

I guess it would probably just be an average. a 150 lb person who has been working out regularly for a year would have a diff heart rate and calorie burn than a 150 lb person who was a couch potato and just started to exercise. You're weight and height isn't really a great indication of your fitness level kwim?0

I was hoping it would be since this pedometer is suppose to be able to differenciate between regular steps and those that are at a moderate level. For example I just went for a walk with my mom on break and this is what the pedometer said: 1,595 steps 1,397 moderate steps 12 minutes, 68kcal, .72 mile
Another question I now have is kcal vs calorie? What's the difference?0
