What habbits did you change?

Ok, so we all know a diet is acutaly a lifestyle change, rather than something you do just to lose weigh for a little while. So what major habbits have to had to change to adapt to your new lifestyle?
For me there are two things. One thing, I LOVE eating after 6. My husband is a late night snacker, and being married to him, has gotten me into a habbit of eating every single night after 6, right up to bed time. I found that when I eat a heavy supper, and whatever I want, I don't have the urge to snack in the evening.
The second one, is going from a large family of 6 to a small family of 2, (and every other weekend, 3.) I am used to cooking large amounts of food for several people, and when I got married, I was still cooking that way. We would have leftovers, for days, but I was the one eating all of it, and usualy in one day. (Hey...I am a good cook! ) So my REALLY big challange is to scale stuff down to just enough for 2. I can't seem to do it though. lol I usualy overpile my husbands plate, and food winds up getting wasted. I have to keep practicing that, hopefuly I'll get better!
So what have you guys and ladies done to change your lifestyle habbits?

Planning meals and getting on a schedule. Not the entire meal, just even deciding between chicken or fish really helps. I also have a calendar that tells me what I'm eating and what workout I'm doing that day. This has helped me more than anything.0

The very first thing I did was cut out the Dr. Pepper and the sweet tea. That was all I would drink. Now it's just water and everything else is too sweet for me. The second thing was learning to control my portion sizes, and telling myself you don't have to clean your plate. I started walking for 10 or 15 minutes a day, because that was all I could handle. Now I walk 3 miles every other day and just started jogging. When I started in January I was 320 lbs. and now I'm down to 267 lbs. I never looked at it as going on a diet though, I looked at it as saving my life0

Watching foodtv all the time and trying to cook like that. Sure it all tasted great, but man the calories. Now i just save a really good meal for when we go out to eat.0

I no longer keep butter in my house...and only olive oil on a very high shelf for if I really need to use it. If I have butter...I end up using it. Instead I now have the "I can't beleive it's not butter" spray, and actually really like it. I get enough fats form peanuts and other healthier things. I also don't eat late at night now and I force myslef to work out (like actually WORK OUT) atleast 4x a week!!!0

yes, getting rid of the soda and juice was a big one for me. Now I just drink water and feel the same way finallyproud does with everything being so sweet. I also started a food journal (way back when, when I didn't know about this site). You wonder why you're not losing weight then when you write it down it's like---oh, I had 10 cookies today! No wonder I'm not losing weight! LOL Writing it down then made me think about how much I was eating (portion control) and it went on from there! Good luck to you!0

*exercising
*portion control
*drinking water
*light soy milk
*don't eat when I'm not hungry!
*eating healthy foods
*changing the butter, sour cream, cheese, etc. that I use
*no "trigger" foods in the house (cookies and chips) because I can't eat only one-I eat the whole bag0
