I am looking into getting some new shoes. I have pain in my feet, heels, and lower legs when working out. I also have the heel pain first thing in the morning. I tried on some Asics Gel Kayano 18s today and they felt great! BUT wow are they expensive! I was looking into maybe the 17s instead. Anyone have these shoes or other Asics, etc. I really want some good support shoes that will help the pain while exercising and give good support. I got some Sofsole Gel Heel Cups today and they feel pretty ok. Anyone else also have these kinds of pains while exercising. I want to build up to running!

I'm on my second pair of Asics and LOVE them! I've kept the old pair because they are still incredibly comfortable. I'll definitely be sticking with this brand. Just my $.02.

Have you tried barefoot? I used to have all sorts of problems with shoes....now I only wear vibram fivefingers, yoga sandals or no shoes, and it rocks! My feet and legs had to man up and do their job!

soulnds like plantar fascitis...make sure you stretch your calves/ achiles after working out. great stretch in the a.m. is can roll. keep a 16oz can of fruit or veggies under your bed and before you get out of bed, sit at the edge and roll the can back and forth over the arch of each foot several times to loosen your feet. in the evening you can do the same exercise using a water bottle that is 2/3 full you have placed on its side and put in the freezer. it will help reduce inflammation as well as stretch.
i wear asicsand they are great shoes for this type of foot issue because the cushioning is gel and not fluff! go to a speciality shoe store and get fitted and then try to find the shoes online....roadrunnnersports.com has some great deals and you have 60-90 days to return them. i actually bought my last pair of asics on amazon.com.
    best wishes to you!

If you like the Asics, check out Amazon. They actually have a lot of running shoes for a decent price:

A friend of mine has those but she said that her legs and feet hurt so bad for the first week or two... I think. I need shoes that are going to have a lot of support and can take the impact of exercise.

BTW, the heel pain is actually not on the bottom of my heel but up more..... kinda like where you get tendonitis and bone spurs (between the bottom heel and little below back of ankle).

Just looked at prices and the Asics Gel Kayano 17 is much cheaper than the 18s. Hopefully they will feel as good. Anyone else have any more suggestions??
